It’s a time to forget about the markets and enjoy your loved ones’ company…
Along with a great meal and a nice glass of wine (has to be Burgundy, or another good pinot noir to go with that turkey).
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, here are five things I’m thankful for.
- America.
I just got back from New York City.

The Big Apple holds a special place in my heart.
I first visited when I was 17.
The skyscrapers entranced me. Staring up at the Empire State Building, I thought, “They built all this in just ONE year. Whoa…”
I’m an Irishman, but I suspect I love America more than many Americans.
When I watch the news (which I always regret), “experts” are constantly bashing the country. We’re told the US is a has-been… the dollar is toast… and Americans are a bunch of lazy, selfish racists.
Nonsense. Having lived on four continents, I can tell you America is the most innovative, resilient, and welcoming place on Earth.
Nowhere is perfect. But America is still the best country on Earth if you’re willing to put your head down and work hard—by far.
You know who else loves America more than most Americans?
Survivors of communism. Seriously… Cubans and Eastern Europeans are America’s #1 fans. They truly know just how good capitalism is.
- Lifesaving AI.
I just read a study in top science journal Nature.
It showcased a new AI detection model trained to spot pancreatic cancer (the deadliest cancer) that now outperforms expert radiologists.
Master cancer detectors… coming soon to a hospital near you.
- Cheap, abundant, clean energy.
I’m talking about nuclear power.
Exactly 50 years ago, President Richard Nixon called for Project Independence—the construction of 1,000 nuclear power plants by 2000.
Unfortunately, the environmental crazies thwarted that. The single-worst decision America made in the past century was turning its back on nuclear energy.
Thankfully, we're righting this wrong. We’re in the early innings of a nuclear renaissance.
America’s first new nuclear unit in over 30 years is now up and running in Georgia.
- Man-made beauty.
Many people prefer natural beauty.
They can keep their tranquil lakes and snowcapped mountains.
This is my idea of beauty:

This big, bold, brash project will galvanize a whole new generation of people to build cool stuff!
- Cancer-killing pills.
According to researchers at California’s City of Hope National Medical Center, a new drug eliminated all solid tumors derived from breast… prostate… brain… ovarian… cervical… skin… and lung cancers in pre-clinical trials!
Yeah, you read that right: A cancer-killing pill.
Early stage, yes… but this should be front-page news. But you know those pessimistic “journos.”
To butcher a quote from one of my favorite films, Trainspotting: “Choose America. Choose technology. Choose capitalism. Choose AI. Choose LIFE!”
